Find an ally

I studied Maths at university and during my studies I had exposure to programing tools such as MATLAB which I enjoyed – if I had known about all of the resources out there I would definitely have made use of them. I always enjoyed problem solving, and technology is an enabler for this.

My time in the Finance Consulting team at EY has given me a number of great opportunities. With encouragement from a colleague, I became certified as a model builder in a planning tool − which I applied to technology implementation and eventually led on the build of a model.

Leaders have a big part to play in creating a supportive atmosphere where women are encouraged and empowered to join the tech space. The tech space is still quite a male dominated area so making this more diverse really motivates me.

For me, one of the biggest barriers was sometimes just my own self-belief, so having an ally to give you that nudge can make a huge difference!

Learn and be challenged

I studied Accounting and Financial Management at university and quickly realized that becoming a practicing accountant was not the career path for me. I started to investigate other career paths and the idea of solving problems using innovative solutions really excited me.

I fell into a career in technology and being part of a rapidly moving industry that is constantly being disrupted has really challenged me and taught me a lot! I’ve been able to apply my accounting knowledge to complex problems and use technology to solve them.

The greatest lesson I have learnt is that there are no barriers to a career in technology. It doesn’t matter if you have a degree in Accounting or History or no degree at all! You just need to have a passion for innovation and the drive to want to constantly learn and be challenged.

Digiversity: Transforming auditors of the future

Digiversity is an instructor-led training program run by the Global Delivery Service (GDS) team in India. Aimed at empowering Assurance professionals with a digital mindset, the training enables participants to solve complex and modern business challenges to deliver high quality work for clients in a rapidly evolving digital world.

Participants receive hands-on experience in utilizing leading-edge technology tools for data analytics, visualization, and automation.

Through Digiversity, I was able to explore and learn about diverse tools and technology for data aggregation and analysis − which is pivotal for me as an auditor.

I’ve since led my team towards automation and have seen remarkable efficiencies. I am grateful for this transformative journey that Digiversity has provided. In an innovation-driven world, tech is imperative to delivering exceptional client value.

Equipping future female technology leaders for success

The EY Devi Program brings together women at the middle-management level of their career to accelerate the development of their leadership skills and expand their networks within technology and across the broader business.

Focused on experiential learning through the ‘case method’, the program cohort review real life case studies and work collectively through a response strategy with input and guidance from senior subject matter professionals.

The training and mentoring opportunities provide a platform to learn invaluable experiences whilst building a network of peers − helping drive down female attrition at a critical career stage and setting them up for future success!

Providing future leaders with these learning and networking opportunities opens them up to new and varied challenges and experiences − helping break down barriers.

The program equipped me with tools and techniques to develop my leadership skills and strengthen my personal brand through practical training and networking.
